MetalWorks - Space Needle
Seattle Space Needle – Which stands at 605 feet high is a major landmark of the Pacific Northwest. It was built for the 1962 World of Fair, and was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River at the time of its completion. The upper section design resulted from the merging of two ideas. One idea was based on the sketch of a giant balloon tethered to the ground and the other idea was to make it appear to be a flying saucer. The profile of the Space Needle was designed to look similar to an hourglass.
